Fundoshi Rehash 24 - Purple Gauze

I have shown this particular purple gauze fundoshi here and here. You can also find some posts at my tumblr account where I occasionally post different sets of photos that arenʻt in line with this particular blog the concentrates on design and photography. I think the following link should work to find those: Hotel Room Series 2...Wet...

I had no real goal in mind when doing this particular set of post-production edits and let the look flow from playing with various settings and filters.

I first added a vignette filter, making the edges a little darker. I also increased the saturation a bit, but as you see below, I ended up taking it down a bit.

Even though I turned down the saturation, I did turn up the vibrancy to keep some of the feel of the colors. I then increased some of the contrast in the mid-tones.

I liked where this was heading, so continued to do little tweaks with the shadows and exposure. The final look also owes a bit to some blurring of the edges.

Fundoshi Rehash 23 - White Spooky Fabric

Fundoshi group number 23 is of the white ʻspookyʻ fabric. If you have been following the past couple of years, you know I found some material in the Halloween section called ʻspooky fabricʻ. It is an extremely loose cheesecloth like weave and gave some interesting results under the lights. You can see the original take herehere and here. Even after 3 sets, I still had some extra to play around with.
As you can see from the other blogs, I really desaturated the colors and tone quite a bit. For this rehash, I added back some color, but tried to keep the dark and shadowy texture.

I used a filter in Aperture called ʻToy Cameraʻ, then increased the exposure a bit. For the final touch below, I played with the curves channels until I got the look I was after, making the photo have more depth.

Fundoshi Rehash 17 - Burgundy Gauze Part 4

And now, the end of the burgundy fundoshi originally seen here and here, and in many other ʻrehashʻ posts. I wanted to try a flatter approach to the photos, and it only took a couple of adjustments.

Here is the original. I first started out by playing with the exposure. I turned it up quite a bit and increased the black point and the brightness. This left it quite ʻloudʻ and wasnʻt quite what I was looking for. It did serve a purpose for the next step.

I decreased the saturation, but increased the vibrancy.

This left the skin tone and background a bit flat as I wanted, but kept the fundoshi from fading away.

Fundoshi Rehash 21 - Purple Voile - Old Design Part 2

Originally seen herehere and here, I didnʻt realize how many extra shots there were! This fundoshi is light and comfortable and I do enjoy wearing it. For todayʻs manipulations, I just wanted that nice, contrasty black and white Iʻve grown fond of.

I first started with a simple black and white filter.  I then played with the exposure a bit and increased the black point, making everything a tad more defined. It was a simple matter of just upping the contrast to get the drama I was looking for!

Fundoshi Rehash 18 - Black Voile Squared Part 3

You can see the original photos today's rehash is based on here and here. For this set of post-production mayhem, I was inspired by this post over at Fundoshi For All ! 六尺褌. To get to the point I was after, I started by doing some basic manipulations.

I first played a little with gaining some finer details in the blacks. I then lightened the shadows a bit to show more tonal variety. Using the levels feature, I then played a lot with the channels, making the midtones and highlights almost identical. Then it was on to the curves filter where I played and played until I arrived at the colorful playground below!
