Fundoshi Rehash 49 - Lavender Voile Take 3

For the third look from the fundoshi of lavender voile, I decided to take it to a 'vintage' route....like old faded photos stored in a box under the bed for far too long. You can gander at the original shoot here.

First up was to lighten the photo a bit. As you can see above, the original lighting was pretty dark. I upped the exposure and turned down the black point a bit to get to the photo below. Just a bit too crisp and clean for a 'vintage' look.

After a buch of playing around with different things, I found a filter I haven't used called 'Antique'.....and that was it. While I don't know exactly what it is doing (other than the obvious white-point adjustment), this is how I envisioned the look, so I took the easy way!

Fundoshi Rehash 48 - Grey Voile Take 3

If you need a refresher, the original photos from the grey voile fundoshi shoot can be found here. Take 2 will show you the previous set of 'rehashed' photos, with much trickery involved.

The trickery involved with this current set was to make the photos a bit 'richer'. Yes...a very subjective term. If you didn't click on the links above, here is a reminder of how the original photos looked.
fundoshi rokushaku
To achieve the look below, I simply turned down the exposure a bit, added a little vibrancy and a vignette filter (which darkens the edges). I did this a while ago, and realize I don't have each individual setting to show, so it leads me to believe I may have just applied a pre-canned filter that did those three things....

Fundoshi Rehash 47 - Burgundy Gauze Take 3

For these extra photos from the burgundy gauze fundoshi up-close session (originally seen here), I took a round-about path to a desired result. I'm sure there was a simpler way to accomplish the same thing, but here goes....

fundoshi rokushaku
From the starting point above, I went to a deep black and white and sharpened the image quite a bit. I also upped the contrast, though it is hard to tell at this point.
fundoshi rokushaku
I then took out about 65% of the black and white filter. Part of the reason for the filter was to get a certain tonal quality before my intended 'final product'.
fundoshi rokushaku
And here it is below. Using the base color of the fundoshi, I applied a monochrome filter and kept it at about 50%, giving a deep pink tone to the photo.

Fundoshi Rehash 46 - Purple Gauze Take 3

The third 'take' on this fundoshi shoot using the purple gauze. For this set of surplus photos, I went in a cooler direction than how the photos originally turned out. As a reminder, you can see the original set here

The original can be seen above to the right. The first bit of trickery I did was to warm up the white balance a bit, leaving the photo to the right.

Next up was to increase the contrast, saturation and vibrancy, which pumped up the colors quite a bit.

For the final bit of wizardry, I sharpened it up a bit and added a polarization filter, leaving the results below.

Fundoshi Rehash 45 - Black Lawn Take 3

For this final set of extra fundoshi photos using the plain black lawn material, I decided to take it lighter. You can refresh your memory with the original shoot here.  The first set of rehashed photos where I turned them black and white can be found here.

Below is a reminder of how the photos looked with minimal processing.
fundoshi rokushaku
The first thing I did was to add a blur around the edge of the photos.
fundoshi rokushaku
Then, I added a vignette. Normally, I add a darker vignette. As you can tell below, for this set, I added a lighter one to match the bright nature of the photos.

Fundoshi Rehash 49 - Lavender Voile Take Two

The original shoot for this set of extra fundoshi photos was done in very minimal lighting. You may recall the set here
fundoshi rokushaku
Even though the originals are a bit dark and moody, I wanted to push it just a little further. I played a bit with the exposure and contrast.
fundoshi rokushaku
Then I darkened the look a bit more and sharpened it up. Pushing the darkness further made the photos more abstract, but that wasn't what I was after, so I stopped here.

Fundoshi Rehash 48 - Grey Voile Take 2

And today brings us to extra photos from the shoot of a grey voile fundoshi which can be seen here.

For this set, I wanted to get a good black and white take on the photos.
fundoshi rokushaku
From the starting point above, I took the exposure down a bit and increased the black point.
fundoshi rokushaku
Next up was to apply the black and white filter. Some post-processing programs allow you to play with the amount of black and white transition based on the red, green and blue channels in the photo. After playing around for a bit, I landed on decreasing the blue channel and increasing the green one. This left me the look below.
fundoshi rokushaku
The photo was still a bit 'soft', so I applied an edge sharpen filter and was then satisfied!

Fundoshi Rehash 47 - Burgundy Gauze Take Two

Another rehash of extra fundoshi photos. This time from the burgundy gauze shoot. You can see the original 'up close and personal' set here. Below is how the photos appeared.

For the first set of adjustments, I played mostly with the white balance. As you can see, I increased the blues a bunch, making the picture a bit cooler. I also increased the black point a bit. this was done to retain some darkness for the next step I would be taking.

Using a levels filter, I then pushed the colors and brightness to an extreme. If I didn't increase the black point, this step would have resulted in reduced detail of my body hair, but more importantly, the texture of the fundoshi.

Fundoshi Rehash 46 - Purple Gauze Take 2

For this set of surplus photos from the purple gauze fundoshi shoot, I decided to take it down a bit. The photos were originally presented here and here. If you don't want to navigate the pages, below is a reminder.
fundoshi
The first step I did was to actually change the tones of the magenta and blue color channels. I did this to get a greater amount of color on the fundoshi before proceeding to the next step I had planned.
I added a black and white filter and made sure it was at about 35% opacity. I also turned up the blue channel a bit in the black and white filter which left more color in the fundoshi.

This seemed a little off-focus, so I finished by sharpening up the entire photo.
