Fundoshi Rehash 32 - Black and White Gauze Part 1

The original fundoshi photos used in this rehash can be found herehere and here.  I really need to learn how to take fewer photos during a shoot....that way, there may be time for more fundoshi putting on and taking off!

For this post-production challenge, I kept the focus rather simple. The original looked a bit 'soft' to my eyes, so I just tried to give them a little 'punch', but not make it look like there were tricks going on.

If you look through these a bit larger, you will see the subtle changes being made. The first change involved adjusting the white balance to give a lighter look to the skin.
I then increased the exposure, saturation and vibrancy just a tad and applied a filter called 'edge sharpen' to bring out some details.

The final look has a bit of a darkened blur applied to the edge of the picture.

Fundoshi Rehash 31 - White Guaze Part 1

From a setup perspective, I am using surplus photos from one of my more complicated shoots. You can see the original photos of the white gauze fundoshi herehere and here. That is a lot of photos! And there are 2 sets of rehash ones to go as well. As I've mentioned, in some shoots, I take hundreds of photos, especially in the ones like this where I'm not too sure about how the photos will come out.

For the first rehash take, I thought of seeing what a black and white approach would look like.

Simply removing the color didn't quite work since the original photos are so soft. This is due to the backlight showing through the backdrop and the fore drop (for lack of a better term). While I like this diffused look for the original shoots, it doesn't quite strike my fancy in black and white.

I turned up the contrast quite a bit and also increased the black point. I then increased the vibrancy which added some depth to the photos. The last little bit was a simple decrease of the brightness, and I arrived at a look I liked.

Fundoshi Rehash 30 - Purple Voile Part 1

Here is another purple voile fundoshi that I had extra shots of being given the 'rehash' treatment. For the original blogs from this shoot, you can go herehere and here.

For this set, I worked a bit on changing the tones because I wanted to pump up the purples and pinks for the final look.

I started by actually adding a color filter in purple, and pumping it up by a small amount.

Next, I increased the exposure a bit and made the blacks just a little darker. The saturation and vibrancy was also increased a bit.

The 'edge sharpen' filter was then used to bring out more definition and for the final look, I played with the levels, giving the entire photo a darker overall feel. Enjoy!

Fundoshi Rehash 29 - Light Blue Gauze

For this rehash, I chose some extra photos of one of the most recently designed fundoshi, the light blue gauze found here and here. I kept the originals a bit on the dark side for mood, so for this rehash, I thought I would just try to lighten them up a bit.

I first adjusted the curves to bring out of of the hidden highlight areas.

I then increased the overall contrast and saturation a bit to bring more variety to the color palette. Then I increased the exposure.

For the final look above, I then changed the temperature of the white balance to a more bluish tone. This got the colors a little more natural looking.
