Fundoshi Rehash 40 - Purple Gauze Look 3, Part 1

Yes...more purple fundoshi! You can see some of the original photos herehere and here

The changes are a bit subtle for this rehash. My main goal was to remove some of the pink tones from the original shoot. Unfortunately, they were there based on some purple gels in the lighting. I first played with the white balance a bit.

I then increased the exposure and black point and turned up the contrast. For the final look below, I went into the individual color settings and played with the red, yellow and magenta channels.

Fundoshi Rehash 28 - Windy Black Voile Part 2

A second take on the black voile fundoshi that was blowing in the wind. This time, I wanted to flatten the look a bit. The original photos can be found here and here

First, I applied a sharpening filter since the original shoot kept the look a bit fuzzy.

I then made the lighting a bit more neutral.

The final look came from applying a black and white filter, then backing off of it a bit to keep just a hint of color.

Fundoshi Rehash 38 - Purple Gauze Part 1

Between the purple gauze and purple voile, there are a lot of rehash blogs being delivered. I must like purple fundoshi!

These are some extra photos that were originally posted here and here. For this first set, I just wanted to make the original photos a touch 'better'. Now that I've been playing around with different post-production settings, I can see how some of the previous shoots could have benefited from my newly found knowledge.

I increased the exposure just a bit to set up for the next steps. As you can see, this created some artifacts in the background.

To minimize the artifacts, I added a filter called fade which took care of smoothing out the background. The photo was still a bit 'soft', so I sharpened up the edges as well.

Fundoshi Rehash 37 - Orange Gauze

This bright orange fundoshi originally made an appearance here and here.  For this set of extra photos, I didn't really have a plan. I started to play with different settings and filters until I found something that I liked, and that I really havenʻt done before.

I started to simply increasing the exposure.

Next, I turned up the saturation and vibrancy just a bit, followed by a pre-canned filter called 'toy camera'.  I then played with the light temperature for the final look.

Fundoshi Rehash 25 - Sarashi Fundoshi Part 2

Yipee - more photos from the shoot wearing a traditional fundoshi made from sarashi fabric. From all the 'stats' here and on tumblr, these shots have had quite a number of views and seem quite popular. The original blogs can be founds hereherehere and here. Boy - that is a bunch of photos considering there are still extras for three rehashes!

For the first rehash, I went with a simple black and white. For this one, I am again playing with some subtle changes to change the mood a bit.

I started out adjusting the exposure settings a bit, toning down the overall exposure and brightness and pushing up the blacks a bit.

Next, I increased the contrast, which left the mood where I wanted, but the feel was still a little too bright, so I turned down the saturation while increasing the vibrancy channels. This was more what I was after.

For the final look, I blurred the edges a bit.

Fundoshi Rehash 32 - Black and White Gauze Part 1

The original fundoshi photos used in this rehash can be found herehere and here.  I really need to learn how to take fewer photos during a shoot....that way, there may be time for more fundoshi putting on and taking off!

For this post-production challenge, I kept the focus rather simple. The original looked a bit 'soft' to my eyes, so I just tried to give them a little 'punch', but not make it look like there were tricks going on.

If you look through these a bit larger, you will see the subtle changes being made. The first change involved adjusting the white balance to give a lighter look to the skin.
I then increased the exposure, saturation and vibrancy just a tad and applied a filter called 'edge sharpen' to bring out some details.

The final look has a bit of a darkened blur applied to the edge of the picture.

Fundoshi Rehash 31 - White Guaze Part 1

From a setup perspective, I am using surplus photos from one of my more complicated shoots. You can see the original photos of the white gauze fundoshi herehere and here. That is a lot of photos! And there are 2 sets of rehash ones to go as well. As I've mentioned, in some shoots, I take hundreds of photos, especially in the ones like this where I'm not too sure about how the photos will come out.

For the first rehash take, I thought of seeing what a black and white approach would look like.

Simply removing the color didn't quite work since the original photos are so soft. This is due to the backlight showing through the backdrop and the fore drop (for lack of a better term). While I like this diffused look for the original shoots, it doesn't quite strike my fancy in black and white.

I turned up the contrast quite a bit and also increased the black point. I then increased the vibrancy which added some depth to the photos. The last little bit was a simple decrease of the brightness, and I arrived at a look I liked.
