Fundoshi Rehash 18 - Black Voile Squared Part 2

The original photos today's rehash is based on can be found here and here. For the first rehash of this shoot, I pumped up the exposure and saturations a bit.  For this set of extra photos, I took a similar idea, but in black and white.

Starting with the original, I simply placed a black and white filter, then played a bit with the screens used in the filter. I ultimately increased the filter based on the red and green screens.

Once that was done, I played a bit with the shadow areas using the curves filter and the highlights and shadows. I then played a bit with the black point and recovery filters to add back some of the lost detail.

Fundoshi Rehash 20 - Grey Voile - The Unknown Design

Once again with grey voile, this time in my 'unknown' design. You can see the photos from the original shoot here and here.

For this set of extra photos, I wanted to pump up the color of the fundoshi a bit and create a starker overall look.

I first played a bit with the exposure and black point to give a little more drama to the photo.

Next was to play with the mid-tone contrast which almost got me to where I wanted. I then turned down the saturation a bit and increased the vibrancy.

For the final look, I added a vignette filter to darken the photo's edges.

Fundoshi Rehash 17 - Burgundy Gauze Part 2

Originally seen here and here, this burgundy fundoshi shoot went quite long with many, many, many surplus photos.

For today's batch, I started by using the same filters I used in the previous rehash to pump up the color and contrast.

For the final look, I applied a heavy black and white filter and adjusted the individual color channels until I achieved this look.

Fundoshi Rehash 19 - Patterned in Black Gauze Part 1

The surplus photos used in today's rehash are the extra shots from the shoot originally seen here,  here and here. Even after 3 blogs, I still had extra shots to show!

Since I like this black and white pattern so much, I wanted to see how much of a blow-out I could get to minimize the background and the body, while still being interesting to look at. I must be getting a bit better at the post-production stuff as the desired look took a quick adjustment to only 2 different settings.

I then increased the exposure and the black point. This was close, but I wasn't pleased with the skin tones.

The saturation was decreased and the definition was increased, and I was pleased!

Fundoshi Rehash 17 - Burgundy Gauze Part 1

Originally seen here and here, this is the lovely burgundy gauze fundoshi that I took way too many photos of.

Here, I decreased the exposure and increased the black point a bit, trying to make it a bit moody.

Fundoshi Rehash 18 - Black Voile Squared Part 1

A dark fundoshi made of voile is a pleasure to wear. The darker colored voiles seem to be thinner and lighter, making them a cool choice to put against the body. You can see the original photos today's rehash is based on here and here

After the first 'update', I know these transitions seem quite subtle, but I like the final results. For the first update, I simply bumped up the exposure. This gave me the blow-out of light feel I wanted.

I then applied a 'toy camera' filter that adjusted and added all sorts of things like saturation, vibrancy, a vignette. Once that was done, I tweaked the contrast and definition a bit.

Fundoshi Rehash 17 - Burgundy Gauze - The Close Up Shoot

Originally seen here and here, there were over 200 'extra' shots that didn't make it into the original blogs. I think I took so many pictures because I was using a very different backdrop, and didn't know exactly how the photos would turn out. With so many fundoshi shots from this session just sitting on my hard drive, it was time to get them out again and start manipulating!

For today, I chose to work on the extra 'close-up' shots from the session. While the changes are quite radical, they were easy to accomplish.

I simply used a filter in Aperture called 'Color Process 1', and viola - instant change.
